Get to know your cars warning lights

June 9, 2020 //  by Geoff

If you’re confused by your car’s warning lights and would like to learn about what each of your car’s warning lights signifies, simply continue reading. As you’ll get to learn the meanings of each of your car’s warning lights. Which you should find useful, especially if it’s been years since you first studied to pass your driver’s licence. As below are some of the warning lights that feature on a thorough warning lights test.

ABS light:

Your ABS light is your vehicle’s anti-lock braking system light. If your ABS light is lit up, it means that your anti-lock braking system has malfunctioned. When I took the warning lights quiz, the ABS light was the easiest to correctly identify as it is labelled with the letters ABS.

Brake system light:

Your car’s break system light features a red exclamation mark in a circle. If your car’s brakes have been comprised, your brake system light will light up. If this happens, it’s advisable to take your car to the nearest mechanic. As if something is wrong with your car’s brakes, driving long distances can be dangerous. Also ensure to avoid driving on a freeway or motorway, when your brake system is lit up. As it’s incredibly dangerous to drive on a freeway, without brakes which are functioning properly.

Tyre pressure monitor warning light:

The first time that I took the quiz, I was unable to correctly identify the tyre pressure monitor warning light, as it is fairly generic and features a yellow exclamation mark, which sits inside an unidentifiable shape. Which is meant to represent a tyre which needs to be inflated.

Battery charge warning light:

Another warning which I correctly identified was the battery charge warning light, which resembles a red car battery and boasted a plus sign and a negative sign. Which are both clearly associated with batteries.

Engine warning light:

The bright yellow engine warning light was also easy to identify as it looks just like a car engine.

Engine cooling warning light;

I incorrectly guessed the engine cooling warning light as the brake fluid level light as the picture which shows a red thermometer is water, reminded me of brake fluid. So be careful to correctly identify the engine cooling warning light.

Window fluid low light:

Thankfully I correctly guessed the window fluid warning light as it clearly depicts a car’s window washers and a gauge which signals that the window fluid level is low.

Airbag warning light:

The airbag warning light was also easily identifiable as it features an image of a person sitting in a car seat with an airbag infant of them.

Door open warning light:

The door open warning light is easy to correctly guess and boasts a picture of a car which has two doors open.

Power steering failure warning light:

I incorrectly guessed the red power steering failure warning light as a power steering failure light. This warning light features a red steering wheel and a red exclamation mark.

If you think that you can correctly guess all of the warning light images which were mentioned above, it’s well worth taking the warning lights quiz for yourself.
