Always Stay Positive
Because of the role that teachers play and lots of students, is important for teachers to always understand that their opinions carry great weight. Some students will feel like they are in the middle of a lake in a sinking boat and no paddle and the teacher is the only person who can save them. Teachers should use this fact to remind themselves always remain positive with students.
Teaching certainly requires tough love and a teacher must always be above board with students regarding their behavior and performance. But they should also focus on the positive aspects of the student and use that as a foundation to get them to excel in school.
Never Compare Students
There is often the urge to compare a failing student to one that is doing everything properly on class. Teachers will often take this tactic with the desire of motivating the failing student to act like someone that they know. The strategy is partly based on embarrassing the failing student, and challenging the student in front of his peers.
